LISD Supports WWS Auction with End-of-the-Year Cookout
The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination supported the Annual Woodrow Wilson School Service Auction with a cookout for WWS students and their guests at the home of LISD Director Wolfgang Danspeckgruber and Dr. Annegret Dettwiler-Danspeckgruber in April. The Danspeckgrubers donated a hosted Viennese cookout to the auction, organized by WWS students and held every year in December in advance of winter break. At the auction, students bid to win spots at the Danspeckgruber's Viennese cookout, among other items, and all proceeds went to the Isles Youth Institute. The 2016 Service Auction raised over $16,000 for the IYI.
The Isles Youth Institute is a nonprofit based in Trenton, NJ, that supports at-risk youth and their communities. The IYI fosters self-reliant families and healthy, sustainable communities. With a mission of “self-reliance through education,” the organization engages disconnected youth and helps them work through life challenges while assisting them in meeting their educational and career goals. Students participate in activities such as job shadowing and life skills training.
The WWS Service Auction is an annual tradition that exemplifies the WWS community's commitment to public service, bringing together students, faculty, and staff to work together to support needs in the larger New Jersey community.
