We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 LISD Best Senior Thesis Award on the politics of self-determination. This award recognizes the best senior thesis that focuses on self-determination of nations, groups and individuals in international politics.

  • To qualify for nomination, the thesis must receive a grade of A or A+ from both readers and be accompanied by a statement of support from both readers.
  • In exceptional cases, the committee will consider a thesis that has received an A- from one reader as long as the second grade is an A or an A+ and the adviser includes an explanation of why the thesis merits a prize.
  • Nominations for this prize are made by departments across the University as well as directly by faculty advisors.

To nominate a candidate, please submit a copy of the thesis, reader reports/evaluations including grades to Heather Mayer by Monday, May 5, 2025.

The award will be announced by Monday, May 12, 2025.
