In a new LISD commentary, "Covid-19 and Our Community: Phase I", Wolfgang Danspeckgruber, D.Laws, Ph.D., Founding Director of LISD, and Dr. Annegret Dettwiler-Danspeckgruber, PI at PNI, explore the medical, socioeconomic and psychological challenges of dealing with a crisis in real-time. They argue that in fact, "It is not what the virus does to us, but what we make out of it. Let us hence not succumb to blame games, or even racist accusations, let us not give in to foster division.

The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination co-convened a one-day policy workshop, "Priorities for the UN's Children and Armed Conflict Agenda, 2020," on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the Princeton Club of New York. The workshop was co-convened with the NGO Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and discussed specific, concrete, and targeted actions that can be taken within the framework of the UN’s Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC) agenda to improve and strengthen the agenda and UN responses to grave violations against children.

Wolfgang Danspeckgruber at Munich Security Conference

The Founding Director of LISD, Wolfgang Danspeckgruber, served as senior advisor to the Liechtenstein Foreign Office while attending the Munich Security Conference from February 14-16, 2020. A breakout session moderated by Lyse Marie Doucet OBE (BBC's Chief International correspondent) featured remarks from Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif (Foreign Affairs Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran) and HRH Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

A new LISD publication, "Gender, Law, and Security (volume II)," features research undertaken by Princeton University students as part of the Project on Gender in the Global Community's (GGC) student fellows program. The volume is a sampling of research conducted by student fellows in the Project on Gender in the Global Community (GGC) at the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination at Princeton University.

Student Fellows in LISD's Project on Gender in the Global Community presented their year-long research projects at a day-long research day on Friday, December 6, 2019. The presentations were made as part of an research day with students of Professor Yasmine Ergas, Director of the Program in Gender and Human Rights of Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights.

LISD Student Fellow, Ananya Agustin Malhotra, is one of two Princeton seniors who were named among the 32 Rhodes Scholars nationwide. Malhotra was an undergraduate fellow with LISD's Project on Gender in the Global Community and Program on Religion, Diplomacy and International Relations during the 2018-19 academic year.
