Third and Final Module of Seminar on Emerging Foreign and Security Dimensions

 

The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination will host a special seminar, divided in three interrelated modules.

The third and final module of LISD's Emerging Foreign and Security Relations seminar series will address “The Emerging Quadripartite Relationship: USA, EU, Russia, China” and take place from November 15-17, 2018. To attend the event or any of its public components, RSVP to Angella Sandford. The module is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School, the EU Program and the Program in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.

The seminar's student fellows were chosen through an application process on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. All students are required complete brief assignments/commentary (ca 1,500 words) after each seminar and compose a 6,000-word final paper by end of Fall Semester. This work will be published in a forthcoming seminar publication. The seminar will discuss emerging security challenges from strategic developments, inter-state and intra-state perspectives, self-determination, climate and environmental issues, to migration and leadership challenges in the region spanning from Vancouver to Vladivostok. It will offer an overview about some of the key institutions in security and foreign relations in the Northern Hemisphere: the EU, the OSCE, and ASEAN. The seminar is divided into three modules and is co-sponsored by the EU Program and the Woodrow Wilson School:

 

(Module i.) The OSCE, The EU, ASEAN - The Institutions and Relevant Dimensions; Wednesday to Saturday, September 26-29, 2018, Public Roundtable, Thursday, September 27.

(Module ii.) Challenges and Crises in the OSCE Realm: from Vancouver to Vladivostok; Thursday to Saturday, October 18-20, 2018, Public Roundtable, Thursday, October 18.

(Module iii.) The Emerging Quadripartite Relationship: USA - EU/Europe – Russia - China; Thursday to Saturday, November 15-17, 2018, Public Roundtable, Thursday, November 15.
