Event Description

Dr Jarosław Kuisz is an Editor-in-Chief of the Polish online weekly Kultura Liberalna, Senior Fellow and Program Director for Liberal Democracy at the Center for Liberal Modernity, Associate of Russian and East European Studies (REES) at the Oxford University School for Global and Area Studies and Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw. As a leading Polish thinker, Kuisz shared and explored his thoughts on the historical roots of Poland’s political dynamics in his two latest books: (1) “The new politics of Poland. A case of post-traumatic sovereignty” (Manchester University Press, 2023) was reviewed in the London Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement, the Sunday Times. This book was ranked among the best books in the world for 2024, according to Foreign Affairs. (2) “Posttraumatic Sovereignty” (with Prof. Karolina Wigura, Suhrkamp, 2023) focuses on Poland’s transformation after 1989. Kuisz regularly contributes to the international press, including The New York TimesThe Guardian, Foreign Affairs, Le MondeDie Zeit. He is currently preparing a book on post-populism for the Suhrkamp publishing house (to be published in 2025).
