Event Description

The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination will co-sponsor a lecture, "Germany's Role in Europe and the World," by Guido Westerwelle, former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. in 219 Burr Hall. The lecture is co-sponsored with the Program in Contemporary European Politics and Society and the European Union Program.

Guido Westerwelle served as Foreign Minister in the second cabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel and was Vice Chancellor of Germany from 2009 to 2011. He had been the chairman of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) since May 2001, and stepped down in 2011. A lawyer by profession, Westerwelle was member of the Bundestag from 1996 to 2013.
