Event Description

The International Policy Associates (IPAs) initiative is a pre-professional foreign policy program. It aims to empower Princeton undergraduates across all backgrounds and majors interested in international affairs and careers in public service. It supplements research and coursework by giving students opportunities to meet with practitioners in politics, business, journalism, policy analysis, non-governmental organizations, and universities. The program brings them on campus and also organizes visits to global capitals, primarily during Fall Break and Winter Session. The program is designed to equip Princeton students to apply academic learning and to develop real-world professional skills.

The International Policy Associates have traveled to Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Silicon Valley, Poland, Singapore, and Washington D.C. On campus, the IPAs have supported the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination (LISD)’s extensive programming, including small-group meetings with, among others, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, EU Commission Presidents Ursula von der Leyen and José Manuel Barroso, US National Security Council Senior Director for Asia Ivan Kanapathy, Microsoft’s President Brad Smith, and former US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun.

Trips for the 2025-2026 cohort will take place over Fall Break and Winter Session. Full participation is mandatory, unless for medical reasons or a last-minute emergency. Academic, athletic, or extra-curricular commitments are not a valid reason for not participating in a trip.

We look forward to welcoming current freshmen and sophomores to our next IPA cohort. The application cycle will begin with the February 10th information session. If you are interested, but unable to attend or miss the information session for any reason, please contact the IPA Ambassadors at [email protected].
