The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination will hold a Crisis Diplomacy seminar on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. in 012 Bendheim Hall. Ambassador Christoph Eichhorn, Germany's Deputy Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control, will be the featured speaker. Ambassador Eichhorn has 26 years of experience in senior diplomatic service. From 2008-2011, he was the Minister and Head of the Political Department of the German Embassy in Washington D.C. From 2004-2008 he was the Office Director for USA and Canada in the German Foreign Office, Berlin, where he helped to prepare the European Union’s summits with the United States and with Canada during Germany’s dual presidencies of the EU and the G8. In the years 1998 - 2004, marked by the end of the Clinton era and the Kosovo conflict, the attacks of September 11 and the Iraq war, he served in Washington, first as an exchange Diplomat at the US Department of State, later as Political Counsellor for Congressional and US Domestic Affairs and Deputy Head of the Political Department at the German Embassy. Between 1992 and 1998, he worked in the Foreign Minister's personal staff in Bonn on German Bundestag and Cabinet affairs and as a speechwriter.
