The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination's Project on Gender in the Global Community will host a teatime discussion on the theme of women and global leadership with Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Founder of the Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP), on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. in 012 Bendheim Hall. Light refreshments will be served.
Silvana Koch-Mehrin is the Founder of the Women in Parliaments a Global Forum (WIP), a worldwide network of female politicians. WIP is an independent, non-partisan and not-for-profit foundation, with offices in Switzerland and Brussels. Its mission is to advance society by unleashing the potential of women for leadership. Silvana was a Member of the European Parliament from 2004-2014. From 2009-2011 she was Vice-President of the European Parliament, and from 2004-2009 she was First Vice-President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). As a member of parliament, she held positions on the Committee on International Trade, Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, Delegation for Relations with Switzerland, Norway and the EEA joint Parliamentary Committee, and the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee. Koch-Mehrin holds numerous honorary positions, including as an alumnus of the Young Global Leader Network of the World Economic Forum.
