Bio/Description

Allie Matthias is a senior in the School of Public and International Affairs with a certificate in History and the Practice of Diplomacy. Born in Tokyo, Japan, and having lived in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, she focuses on U.S. public diplomacy and security in the Indo-Pacific. She is currently researching U.S. and China partnerships in Southeast Asia. Her previous independent research has centered on the European Chips Act and semiconductor supply chains, reforms to multilateral cooperation and the U.N. system, and the effect of democracy decline on NATO. Allie was a research and policy intern for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, and Allie interned at the UN Women. On campus, she currently serves as publisher for the arts and culture magazine “The Nassau Weekly.” Allie is interested in security alliances and technology in the U.S.-China strategic competition.
