Hannah Jo is a sophomore from South Korea, majoring in the School of Public and International Affairs, interested in English and neuroscience. Coming from a family of North Korean defectors, she is particularly passionate about security and diplomacy in Northeast Asia and the Korean Peninsula. At Princeton, she serves as the Undergraduate Student Government director of communications and public affairs, an organizer for the Princeton Blood Drive and a Princeton Ski & Snowboard Club member. Building on her work at the Ministry of Unification of the Republic of Korea and the Development & Global Initiatives department at Human Rights Watch, she seeks to apply Europe’s historical and contemporary grand strategy to craft Korea’s reunification model and challenge the rise of China. She is interested in the German reunification experience, liberal international order, and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
