Bio/Description

Originally from Canterbury, New Zealand, Sophie Pye is a junior in the School of Public and International Affairs, pursuing a certificate in Environmental Studies. Sophie is primarily interested in food security and trade policy, focusing on the Asia-Pacific region. Agriculture policy is also a significant interest of Sophie’s due to growing up on a farm. During the summer of 2023, Sophie worked under the secretary general at Copa-Cogeca in Brussels on international trade to understand the implications of EU free trade agreements on the European agricultural industry. At Princeton, Sophie serves as a community living adviser at Mathey College and is a Streicker International Fellow. Formerly, Sophie led the Brooklyn College Success mentorship program, promoted health justice through the Service Focus Program and worked as a research assistant in the History Department.
