Bio/Description

Tenzing Sherpa is a junior from Pangboche, Nepal studying Computer Science and minoring in Neuroscience. Tenzing served four years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force, where he led aircraft engineering programs and supported intelligence and humanitarian missions. His military experience deepened his interest in the intersection of security, technology, and international affairs, especially as they relate to North America, the Indo-Pacific, and emerging economies. Over Spring Break 2025, he directed Princeton’s AI Tiger Trek, a weeklong trip to Silicon Valley, connecting students with leaders in artificial intelligence. Tenzing has spent the past two summers interning as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services, contributing to global cloud infrastructure projects. In Summer 2023, he led a coding education initiative for underprivileged youth in Kathmandu with support from Princeton’s Class of 1978 Foundation. Tenzing is the founder of Bank of Sherpa, a digital platform for Sherpa language preservation. His research focuses on the digital divide, AI governance, cybersecurity, and self-determination in the Himalayan region. On campus, he is active in the Princeton AI Club, Princeton Student Veterans, Princeton Nepali Society, and Adopt-a-Float with EarthScope. Tenzing speaks Sherpa, Nepali, and English.
