Position Visiting Research Scholar Email [email protected] Bio/Description Zaid al-Ali is an independent scholar and Senior Programme Manager at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance. His research focuses on comparative constitutional law and peace negotiations, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa. Zaid has provided direct technical advice and assistance to constitutional processes and peace processes in a number of countries, including Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Bosnia, and elsewhere. In the past, Zaid has been a Visiting Fellow at Sciences-Po Paris (2009), a Law and Public Affairs Fellow at Princeton University (2015-2016), and a Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (the Berlin Institute for Advanced Studies) (2019-2020). His books include The Struggle for Iraq's Future (Yale, 2014) and Arab Constitutionalism (Cambridge, 2021). He is currently working on a new book on peace negotiations.
