In this Commentary LISD Director Wolfgang Danspeckgruber assesses the motivations behind President Vladimir Putin's recent interventions in Syria. Danspeckgruber argues that Putin "clearly perceives the various domestic and international benefits outweighing the potential costs of the current Syria operation," and analyzes fourteen reasons why this is so.
